Accounting Assistant

Reporting RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Accountant.

POSITION STATUS: Full time, Non-exempt.

BASIC ROLE: 
The AR/AP Clerk is responsible for Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable in QuickBooks, billing Medicaid/Medicare services, ordering and billing of durable medical equipment/medical supplies, private pay billing and other fee for service billing at the center. This is a hands on position requiring a detail oriented individual with QuickBooks experience, preferably in a non-profit setting. Medicaid background is desirable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial

  1. Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable

  2. Medicaid/Medicare/private pay/fee for service billing

  3. Investigation and resolution of all open invoices on a monthly basis

  4. Audit preparation

  5. Medicaid/Medicare cost reporting

Administrative

  1. Ensure office and maintenance supplies are ordered and kept in stock in a cost effective manner.

  2. Ensures DME PARS are submitted to Medicaid for approval, ordering supplies for consumers and billing the appropriate pay source.

  3. Data entry into OASIS, Home Health Form 485 and Microsoft Access.

Asset Management

  1. Assists upper management in ensuring building maintenance is completed, including scheduling of planned maintenance activities for air conditioners, parking lot, snow removal, etc.

  2. Assists upper management in ensuring CPWD vehicles are maintained on a regular basis including tune ups, oil changes, and other maintenance activities. 

Qualifications:

  1. Experience with home health operation, Medicaid/Medicare billing practices, knowledge of Windows 2000 network administration, Office 2000, Quick Books 2000, and other software programs. 

  2. High School Diploma or equivalent.

  3. 1-3 years experience in accounts receivable/payables.

  4. Experience working with Colorado Medicaid billing system. 

  5. Must be detail oriented. 

Desirable Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge of government grant programs and personnel management. 

  2. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field of study. 

  3. Life experience with a disability is highly desirable. 

  4. Knowledge and experience with the Independent Living Movement is highly desirable.
