Boulder, CO (July 14, 2017) – Center for People With Disabilities (CPWD), a nonprofit that provides services to assist people with disabilities overcome barriers to independent living, has hired Maria Stepanyan as Executive Director.
Maria was formerly CPWD’s Director of Operations, managing finances, human resources and facilities for CPWD. Following the transition of past Executive Director, David Robinson, in January, 2017, Maria stepped into the role of Interim Executive Director at the request of the board of directors.
A comprehensive and competitive Executive Director search was conducted, at the conclusion of which Maria was determined to be the most qualified candidate.
Maria started with CPWD in 2010. Through her passion, energy and expertise in financial management, she as grown with and become a key employee at CWPD over the past 7 years. Originally from Armenia, Maria studied finances in Moscow, Russia. She was the Operations Manager of the Art Rehabilitation Center for orphans with disabilities. She is also the Founder and Board member of the Colorado Chapter of the Society for Orphaned Armenian Relief.
As CPWD’s new Executive Director, Maria is enthusiastic about strengthening and growing programs for people with disabilities, deepening connections with collaborators and funders in our community, and ensuring the fiscal stability and long-term sustainability of CPWD, so it can continue to fulfill its mission for years to come.

CPWD is a Center for Independent Living that has offices in Boulder, Longmont, Thornton and Broomfield, and serves the greater Boulder and North Metro areas.
